About the Artist

My work is shaped by curiosity and perspective. Through travel, I have witnessed the vast diversity of cultures, landscapes, and ways of life across our world, forming my understanding of value and form. Grounded in origin, and the balance of permanence and impermanence, these experiences have inspired the core concepts behind my work. Through traditional fabrication and experimental methods, I create pieces that explore the individuality and beauty of natural form.

The jewelry industry exists within complex social and environmental systems, shaped by ongoing human and ecological exploitation. I remain aware of these challenges and minimise my contribution to them, sourcing traceable and ethically produced materials. Guided by perspectives gained through my travels, each piece that I create reflects the diversity of our world while supporting the people and environments at the source of the material.

Casting Organic Form

The void between material, the absence and negative space, holds as much significance as the form itself. This space creates unpredictable structure and depth within the flow of molten metal, revealing the beauty within imperfection. In my jewelry, negative space is not empty, it is an essential part of the composition and process, a narrative of singularity, of presence and absence.

Using my own distinctive, experimental process, free casting, my work studies the unpredictable flow of molten metal as it solidifies within the void of form, capturing the negative space in a singular moment. Refined and composed with hand-formed elements, and precisely placed gemstones, each piece is a statement of organic fluidity and intentional composition, of control and chaos, a sculptural fragment of nature’s infinite variation.

My Philosophy behind Imperfection

In nature, imperfection is not something to be fixed; it’s an inherent part of the beauty that surrounds us. My jewelry is a study of the unpredictability and fluidity of life, where every element, form, and texture carries its own meaning and identity. By capturing these singular moments and embracing the natural imperfections of the flowing metal, each piece creates a form of wearable art that celebrates life’s unpredictability, a connection between the wearer and nature, the permanence and impermanence of the world we live in.

Ethical Sourcing in Namibia

In January 2026, I traveled to Namibia to see firsthand where and how the gemstones I work with are sourced and cut. From vast desert landscapes to small-scale mining claims and diamond cutting factories, this journey deepened my understanding of the craft, the people, and the ethics behind every stone. Every gem carries a story — from formation to finished gem.

Mining, Cutting, and Sourcing

Visiting a small-scale tourmaline mining claim in the Erongo Region, I was able to observe the methods, process, and geology of extracting gemstones from the earth. After sections of the rock face are blasted using dynamite, miners search through the rubble and newly exposed stone for fragments and pockets where crystals have formed.

Sourcing gemstones that are ethically produced, directly from the mine, ensure traceability and direct support to the people who mine and cut them. I purchased several stones directly from the miners, giving meaning and connection to the materials, and an understanding of the care, skill, and labour involved in every gem.

Diamond Cutting

Visiting a large-scale diamond cutting factory specializing in higher-carat yellow diamonds, I was able to observe and learn about the precision, skill, and expertise required to transform rough stones into finished gems.

Factories like this play an important role in supporting local communities, keeping the value of the cut stones within the country where they are mined, and providing employment and training for local people. Observing the finishing process firsthand gave me a deeper appreciation for the artistry, journey, and meticulous care involved in every stage of production.
